What You Can Build
More Than Extra Space: A Room for How You Actually Live
Your basement is the most cost-effective square footage in your home to finish. Instead of paying to add on, you’re transforming space you already have. Across metro Atlanta, Ferentino Design Build designs and builds finished basements for almost any use:
- Home theaters & media rooms — framing, wiring, sound insulation, tiered seating, and lighting, built and ready for your equipment.
- In-law suites & apartments — a bedroom, full bathroom, and kitchenette so family can stay comfortably or you can add rental income.
- Home gyms & home offices — durable flooring, proper lighting, and quiet, dedicated space away from the rest of the house.
- Bars & entertainment areas — wet bars, wine storage, and open lounge space for hosting.
- Guest bedrooms — finished to code with a compliant egress window for safe, legal sleeping space.
- Added bathrooms & kitchenettes — the upgrades that turn a finished basement into a truly independent living area.
Whatever the goal, we handle the full design-build process under one roof — one team, one point of contact, from first sketch to final walkthrough.
Basement Bedrooms, Egress and Permits
Planning a bedroom or guest suite in your basement? It needs a proper emergency exit. The International Residential Code, which Georgia's residential code is based on, requires every basement sleeping room to have an emergency escape and rescue opening. That is usually an egress window with a window well, or a door that opens directly outside. If your basement doesn't have one where the bedroom will go, we plan it into the design and install it as part of the project.
Finishing a basement with new framing, electrical or plumbing also needs a building permit in the cities and counties we work in. The Town of Braselton, for example, lists basement finishes as a permitted project type, and the City of Winder requires permits for all remodels. We pull the permits and schedule the inspections for every project, so the finished space is documented, which matters when you sell.
What Affects the Cost of Finishing a Basement
Every basement is priced from your actual plans. The biggest factors are the size of the space, how many rooms you divide it into, whether you add a bathroom or kitchenette (plumbing is the largest single variable), and your flooring, lighting and built-in choices. An egress window for a bedroom, a home theater, or a wet bar each add scope. After a free in-home consultation we give you a detailed written estimate, and financing is available.
